The Sunshine State Athletic Conference, which has had a different school win its football championship in each of its seven seasons so far, is going to do it again.

None of the schools in this year’s eight-team SSAC playoffs have won the championship before.

The two area entries into Friday night’s quarterfinals are Orlando Christian Prep (8-0), which will host Boca Raton Christian (5-2), and first-year league member Orangewood Christian (5-3), which qualified on a tiebreaker and will travel to Lakeland Santa Fe Catholic (8-0).

The LazIndex power ratings peg Santa Fe Catholic as the No. 1 SSAC team, followed closely by OCP, West Palm Beach Berean Christian (6-1), Bradenton St. Stephen’s (7-1) and Seven Rivers Christian (7-1) of Lecanto.

The SSAC Florida Bowl title game will be played on Saturday, Nov. 14, at 7 p.m. at Master’s Academy in Oviedo.

The league is comprised of Florida High School Athletic Association member schools who, much to the chagrine of the FHSAA, chose to not participate in district play and the state playoff system.
